After hearing Dean’s story about his father, which is very similar to Claire’s current situation, he resolves himself to save her whether she wants him to or not.
This is important.
Because Dean thinks he’s past saving at this point and needs to be destroyed.
He’s even asked Cas, specifically, to be the one to kill him when the time comes. But given what he’s been through with Claire, there is NO WAY that Cas won’t try to save him instead.
Exactly! Ahhh this episode is the start of the end of me! They are showing in every way that Cas is going to be Dean’s hero in all this. Oh my god!

Usually, Dean would brush it off with ‘I’m good’ or some snarky comment, but instead he is saying: ’I appreciate that’. This isn’t easy for Dean, accepting this kind of care, but he does. And this is a huge step for him.
